Before your appointment
What is podiatry and how can it help me?
Podiatrists are primary health care providers, highly skilled professionals trained in the assessment, diagnosis and management of lower limb musculoskeletal, vascular and neurological systems. We use hands-on treatment in association with foot care modalities, exercise prescription and orthotic therapy to help you achieve your goals.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
We aim to offer our patients an appointment as soon as possible, same-day appointments are sometimes available. Call us on 4421 6030 or book online.
Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
No. If you are a privately funded patient you can see a podiatrist without a referral. A doctor’s referral is only required if your visit will be funded through Medicare or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
What should I bring?
For your initial appointment, please bring along any doctors’ letters or referrals and any scans or x-rays you have of the affected area. If you are coming for a biomechanical assessment, please bring your most commonly worn shoes. If you have private health insurance, bring your card, we can claim on the spot with Tyro.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your podiatrist will complete an assessment of your complaint and provide a preliminary diagnosis. A plan for treatment and management is devised from this assessment. Treatment may include foot care, dry needling, education on self-management, supervised exercise and prescription of a home exercise program.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible so we can offer the time to another patient.
Payment & Medicare
What are your payment terms?
Payment is made by cash, EFTPOS or credit card on the day of consultation.
How much will my health fund cover?
The gap between the total cost of treatment and the amount your health fund covers varies by fund and policy. We use Tyro, bring your private health fund card and we can process your rebate on the spot, so you only pay the gap. If you’d like to know the gap before booking, please contact your fund.
Medicare Benefits Scheme
In some circumstances, patients are referred to podiatry by their GP under a chronic condition management plan (the framework that replaced the CDM scheme on 1 July 2025). With this referral you pay the full fee on the day of consultation and are reimbursed $61.80 from Medicare (the 85% benefit on Item 10962, current as at 1 July 2025). Patients can claim reimbursement for up to 5 allied health consultations per calendar year.
